Flamenco dancer

“Bonita” 6 x 6 oil on canvas (New photo)

This has been a fun little series for me. It’s neat to explore a set color scheme and subject matter, and see how many ways you can find to fill it. I have to thank Aline Salazar on Flickr for her wonderful reference photos. I have changed it to suit my own tastes, but I got the idea from her.
This photo is horrible, unfortunately. I can’t seem to photograph anything with dark backgrounds successfully, and the contrast is a bit off. It hasn’t picked up the richness of the colors of her flesh, either, but oh well. I’ve tried to tweak it in photoshop, to no avail. We do what we can with what we have! At least the expressiveness is there. This will be up for sale on ebay on Sunday night, 6 pm PST.

Work Buddies painting a day

“Work Buddies” 6″ x 6″ oil on canvas
A new painting I did today. I’ve been working on a large one for the last week, and it’s giving me some trouble, (as usual…sigh…) so I decided to turn it to face the wall for a week or so, and do some tiny little one-off’s to make myself feel better!
This one will be active on ebay on Sunday at 6 or so…
Cheers! G’night:)

The Snow Queen

The Snow Queen--12″ x 16″ oil on canvas
I’m so excited! I entered this painting which some of you have probably already seen, in the regional juried arts competition, and it was accepted! Yay! So it will travel around B.C. for a while, visiting other galleries, and hopefully gaining me a bit of exposure.
Also, I’ve entered it into the BoldBrush painting competition, too, and I know that this is a bit of a shameless plug, but, if you do like it, would you be so kind as to follow this link:
and click on the little thumbs up symbol that says “like” on it? Thanks, oh, and here’s a new painting for you, too. I had some fun with cadmium yellow medium, really thick paint and a palette knife. Click on it to make it bigger:)
Sunset Cows – “11 x 14″oil on masonite panel $550.00
I found it different to paint on such a hard, slick surface. It was kind of an exercise for myself in thick paint, and painting fast. I was trying to catch that elusive inspiration by not allowing myself time to think. It turned out okay, but I think the drawing is off a bit. Anyways, it was fun, and I’m mostly happy with it.

Sunlit

                                                        “Sunlit”  ACEO — SOLD

It’s spring, finally…I think… The large patches of snow beg to differ, but the temperature on the thermometer is finally agreeing. (Is that a word? It sounds funny…lol!) I’m really tired today. I ran 9km, painted for four hours, only to have to basically start over…way too much time to spend on a 6 x 6 painting, cooked a few meals, picked up after the kids…put them to bed…How does one have the time to stay in shape, raise a family, try to be an artist, and be a wife…YAWN! Okay, well I’m going to go to bed now, but I’ll leave you with this little horse I painted the other day. I’ve been painting A LOT! I just haven’t been posting much. There’s the cows…and the swan…and a lot of cats, haha. I will post some more soon.
Bye for now.
